Work from Home doing Voice Overs
Course Curriculum

Video-based (watch at your own pace) with PDFs for enhancement. Access to the course for 1 full year.

Module 1: Choosing and Preparing a Place to Record

This will be easy and pretty inexpensive. Find a place in your home to record and learn how to make it "soft" to diffuse sound and reduce echo.

Most items will already be in your home, but you'll also receive a complete list of items and tips that will be helpful.

Module 2: Recording Equipment and Software

You'll probably be surprised how inexpensive this can be.  And, you won't need to waste hours researching microphones or equipment.  I've already done that for you. In this module you'll learn all about microphones and receive a list of recommended microphones and other equipment. You'll know where to get it and an approximate cost.

Then, we'll cover the recording software. Best of all, it's free!  You'll learn how to install and how to use it like a pro. Your skills will include recording, editing and mastering your audio files. Want to start a podcast? Great! You'll have the skills. And you'll know how to meet audiobook submission standards.

Module 3: Skills

We'll cover how to use your microphone and practice mic skills. We'll cover voice skills including warming up and protecting your voice. And, we'll cover reading and script interpretation skills.

Module 4: Where to Find Work

We wouldn't teach you how to do voice overs and then not show you where to find work! In this module we cover all the places you can find work including auditioning and producing your own voice samples and demos.

Module 5: Running Your Business

Learn how to organize your business here. We discuss business entities, record keeping, your company name and logo, websites, talent agents and how you get paid.

Module 6: Doing the work

In this module, we make sure you know what to expect on a daily basis and how to prioritize your efforts each day.  We'll also discuss rates.

Module 7: Free Voice Review!

Once you've completed the course, it's time for your free voice review! You'll receive scripts to record. Once you record them and send them in, you will receive feedback on your delivery, script reading and interpretation skills and also give you descriptors of your voice. It's like a free coaching session!

By the end of this course, here's what you'll have accomplished...

  • Recording Space

You will have identified where in your home you will be recording and set up your recording space. You'll be following directions on how to make the space work best for recording.

  • Equipment

With specific recommendations, you will have chosen and purchased your recording equipment. You will have set it up and you’ll know how to use it.

  • Skills

You’ll have practiced your microphone skills, recording skills, voice skills and script interpretation. You’ll continue practicing these skills even after the course.

  • Find Work and Audition

You’ll know where to find work and how to audition for projects. You'll balance your time between auditioning and practicing your new skills.

  • Voice Review

When you complete the course, you'll submit audio files for a Voice Review. Your audio files will be reviewed to make sure they sound professional, and you'll receive suggestions for moving forward. It's like a free coaching session built right into the course!

  • Run Your Business

This is your own business now, so you'll know how to run and organize your voice over business. You'll know how to prioritize your work and you'll be ready to get started!

Plus! Certificate of Completion

When you complete the course, you'll receive a Certificate of Completion. Use this on resumes, bios and online to show your experience and professional level of skill.

And don't forget, you'll gain access to Advanced Student Resources - tools you will use as you become a professional voice artist.
